Living the Good Life

Health:
  1. Drink plenty of water.
  2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
  3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
  4. Live with the 3 E’s - Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
  5. Play more games.
  6. Read more books than you did in 2010.
  7. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
  8. Sleep for 7 hours.
  9. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
  1. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
  2. Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
  3. Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
  4. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  5. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
  6. Dream more while you are awake.
  7. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
  8. Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
  9. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
  10. Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
  11. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  12. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
  13. Smile and laugh more.
  14. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Society:
  1. Call your family often.
  2. Each day give something good to others.
  3. Forgive everyone for everything.
  4. Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
  5. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  6. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  7. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
  1. Do the right thing!
  2. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
  3. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
  4. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
  5. The best is yet to come.
  6. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Chelesa: So, the White House has finally released the long form of the certificate of live birth for Barack Obama because Donald Trump was demanding it.  He’s taking credit for this, saying, “Today I’m very proud of myself because I’ve accomplished what nobody else has been able to accomplish.”  First of all…shut up.  Second of all, two of your last three wives aren’t American and your fourth one hasn’t even been born yet.

Bye bye Gabby

Tonight my lovebird was killed by a huge rat. Somehow this monster got into the cage which was hanging and broke the neck of my fave of 4 birds. I believe she was trying to protect her eggs which resulted in her dying a gruesome death at the teeth of that bastard. Her mate is so traumatised and depressed. He's looking at me as if I'm a stranger :( I don't know about anybody else but I treat my pets like children so I was seriously hollering when I heard the bad news.I didn't look at her as I don't want the last memory of my beloved to be a bloody, gory one. My heart literally aches as I imagine how scared she was and think about the fact that I just gave her some fresh water and sang a lullaby (lame i know lol). A New Lifestyle

Just like everyone else, a healthy lifestyle- balanced diet, exercise, less stress- was at the top of my new year's resolution list. Yesterday proved to be some motivation for me to atually start this new lifestyle. For the last 2 semesters, my Tuesdays comprised of a 3/4 hour class from 8 in the a.m. and another from 2 to 5. So basically, I had to wait until 9:30 to buy an unhealthy, grogginess-causing, heartburn-afflicting breakfast, then for the next class I would only buy a snack and wash it down with the very sugary tang-tasting Tropicana in an attempt to prevent or counteract any tiredness.
This routine left me with acid reflux, a headache and the dreaded "3:30" feeling. My attentiveness and alertness went down to almost 0 resulting in my missing half of the lecture.
Although my breakfast wasn't healthy at all, yesterday morning I had a patty and cocobread (or folding bread for those West Indians who perceive the former as vulgar) with unsweetened coconut water. For my second 'meal', I had some Cheers (Caribbean's alternative to M&Ms ) and water. Surprisingly, albeit tiredness set in due to lack of rest, by 3 I was still alert , fresh and energised. I was able to do my class exercise without any brain-blocks!
I can just imagine how much more wonderful i'll feel when I begin a nutritional balanced diet and exercise regimen. Nothing will be able to stop me now! Look out world, here I come!

Gotta get away...

For my 20th birthday last year my parents brought the family to a little hotel in Negril, Jamaica for the weekend. If you're ever in the resort area check out Bar-B-Barn.

My own place?

I'm turning 21 in a few months and along with increased independence the thought of me possibly moving into a place of my own (with or sans a roommate) is getting me really excited. I have some great ideas for how I might decorate. Take a look and let me know what you think:

A Promise To Oneself

Promise yourself to be strong,
that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something within them.
To look at the sunny side of everything,
and to make your own optimism come true.
To think only of the best,
to work only for the best and to expect the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about success of others as you are your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger,
too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

So much to do... so little time pt .1

My final year in university-challenging, exciting, bittersweet . it seems as if there are a million things to be done in less than a million minutes(only approx. 131400!). After so many years of having things done for/ handed to me, now it was all up to me to get everything done.

Having made the decision to pursue a career in IT and not really possessing technical skills like my fellow 'techies' , I have about 6 months to get up to par and achieve some level of proficiency in web design, photoshop, C+, .Net, troubleshooting and to increase my knowledge of Visual Basic and Java.

On top of that I only have 3 wks to plan a luanch for my school's MIS Society of which I'm VP (woot woot); 2 wks to co-ordinate a team to complete a project - constructing a network system for a business- oh yeah I'm project manager!; get a+ in all my courses this semester to help bring up my GPA.

In addition, I'm faced with the final year dilemma - whether to enter the corporate world or apply to graduate school. I'll just have to leave that along with all my plans and obligations in God's hands :)
